05/2025-There is lots to catch up on!

-We have our first PhD graduate from the group! Congratulations to Brett Lottes for a successful thesis defense and we are excited to what you do next as a postdoctoral fellow at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.

-We have new PhD candidates as well! Congrats to Shawn and Aiman for successfully passing their comprehensive exams this spring.

-Primadi was selected as a recipient of the UI Graduate College Ballard and Seashore Dissertation Fellowship for Fall 2025.

-Kara and Ava were selected to attend the NNSA TRUCoRE 2025 Undergraduate Recruitment Workshop in April 2025.

-Kara and Ava both received awards at the Department of Chemistry Appreciation Night! Kara was selected as the Leeper Sophomore Chemistry Alumni Award winner, while Ava received a Study Abroad Merit Scholarship to facilitate her participation in the Sustainable Chemistry Along the Rhine River program during Summer 2025. 

01/2025-There is lots to catch up on!

-Our new Heavy Element Summer Research Fellowship program has launched and we are excited to host our first research fellows this summer. 

-We welcomed Egzona Tahiri (co-advised with Professor Dave Martin) and David Pille into the group in December 2024. Egzona joined us from Western Illinois University, while David came to us from Carleton College.

-Ecem received a UI Graduate College Post-Comps Research Fellowship for Spring 2025.

-Korey and colleague Tori Forbes received funding from the Department of Homeland Security to launch a project focused on 'Identification of Free Radical Based Spectroscopic Signatures in Nuclear Materials Using Electron Paramagnetic Resonance and Resonance Raman Spectroscopies' in collaboration with researchers at Pacific Northwest and Los Alamos National Laboratories in September 2024. 

08/2024-Congrats to Ashanthi for winning a travel award from the ACS Division of Inorganic Chemistry to attend the Fall ACS Meeting!

-We have new papers out in Dalton Transactions and EJIC. Congrats Primadi and Brett!

-Korey and colleagues Tori Forbes and Scott Daly received funding from the Roy J. Carver Charitable Trust to expand radiochemistry infrastructure and capabilities at UI.

04/2024-Congrats to our newest PhD candidate Ecem and to Shawn for her acceptance into the 2024 MagLab SSNMR Summer School! 

12/2023-We are excited to welcome our newest member, Aiman Shahbaz, a first year graduate student joining us from UAF, Pakistan.

11/2023-There is lots to catch up on!

-Brett was named a 2023 DOE SCGSR fellow in October https://www.energy.gov/science/articles/does-office-science-graduate-student-research-scgsr-program-selects-60-outstanding.

-We welcomed Shawn Eisenberg into the group in August 2023. Shawn joined us from Stony Brook University where she did undergraduate research in medicinal radiochemistry with Prof. Eszter Boros.

-Korey was named a DOE Early Career Award winner in August 2023, which will fund the group's QIS project for the next five years https://science.osti.gov/-/media/early-career/pdf/FY-2023-DOE-SC-Early-Career-Research-Program-Abstracts.pdf.

-Primadi and Ashanthi received UI Graduate College Summer Research Fellowships for Summer 2023.

-The group's first paper was published in Chemistry A European Journal in May 2023. Congratulations Brett! 

-Brett received a UI Graduate College Post-Comps Research Fellowship for Spring 2023.

-We have four PhD candidates in the group: Brett in May 2022, Primadi in October 2022, Ashanthi in November 2022, and Grant in May 2023.
